Sheheen Blows Away the Competition
MBA CHAPTER - STATEN ISLAND, NY
Hello, ladies
On a night that would eventually feature blizzard-like conditions, the same could be said about Lane 13. A lane captained by Keri Sheheen, her team “Pin Peaks” took the 2025 Caucasian Open by storm and blew away almost all of the competition (Get it? All the weather stuff?).
Let’s start from the beginning: As per the rules of the league’s annual January Open, a number of top tier team captains are determined using the current chapter standings. The captains take turns building a team, selecting players from talent pools down the leaderboard. Building a team takes a knack for assessing a variety of talent levels and trusting your gut. While he was a lock for a captain slot, Chapter Pest - Kevin Rogers, signed up for the tournament past the cutoff time. And while his claim of not receiving the proper emails from the league’s front office were later corroborated, the League conceded he could only play in the tournament if he forfeited his captain status, and as penalty he was relegated to the bottom pool of contenders.

To keep team’s fair and balanced, the league determined that Sheheen, who eeked a captain’s slot because of Rogers’ tardiness, should be given right of first refusal on recruiting Rogers to her team. The Sophie’s Choice? Her husband, Carl Gallagher, was also in the last talent pool, making for a big decision. “I was given a very tough choice.” she said. “Either choose my loving husband, OR try to win this fucking tournament with Kevin” referring to Gallagher’s propensity to win Gutter Trash Awards.
One would think 4x White Russian Trophy winner, Rogers, would have been the key to securing the win. While he did score a 169 and 163, and Shehee’s other teammates Katie Marks, Adrienne Mork, and Jared Reiter held the ship steady, it was Sheheen herself who sealed the win. Her averages have progressed in each event during the 2024-25 season, throwing averages of 123,148, and 152, but at January’s Open she would have her best night yet. Her 175 average pushed Team “Pin Peaks” collective average over the edge to 140.6 and deserving of the event’s hardware.
Team ‘Pin Peaks’
Lane 15 would not be too happy about this. MBA Czarina and Captain of the “Pin-Down Girls” (a play on “Pin-Up Girls” and a name they really workshopped all event) Hillary Scott, who has been yearning to have her name on this event’s trophy since its inception, would have to wait a little longer. Her teammates Megan Gaul, Amanda Seaquist, and Krista Hasbrouck were seen consoling Scott at Rabs’ High Roller’s Lounge crying into her White Russian (the drink) over their loss of the White Russian (the trophy). Their final team average? 140.1. “C’mon what the FUCK.” Scott said to a room full of media and about 100 fans, covered in snow (the weather). Word has it they made the pilgrimage to hear Scott comment live once the word of her loss was tweeted out.
The sun will come out tomorrow (more weather stuff).
Event All-Star, Sheheen
Erin “Get’s Turkeys” Chiappi
Other notables for the evening include:
Keri Sheheen, who can’t stop making headlines and will surely be booed at February’s T.D.K. Memorial Tournament, also, went home with ANOTHER prize: the beloved MBA Turkey Club pin for throwing a turkey on the day. Not to be outdone, veteran Erin Chiappi, also, joined the eternal Turkey Club by throwing one in her first four throws of Game 1! “My brother won this a long time ago (referring to Michael Chiappi) and I was jealous.” she said. “Ugh, FINALLY”
Heather O’Shea won her 3,574rd Gutter Trash Award. She was very happy to win it!
